This was my third time at Joffre, but first time with Lila. Lila worked here as a park assistant for a couple months in 2023.

The crowds on this trail can be insanely busy. The first time I went, I was with my parents, and the online reservation system was down so there were more people than usual on the trail. Normally 1,200 people can get permits each day! This busy of a trail definitely ruined the wilderness feeling for me.

But, early season it was quiet and beautiful. The hike this time felt easy despite being the first hike of the season. I’m not sure why the first time I came here the hike felt steep. Maybe passing the hoards of people exhausted me more. Either way, this area is stunningly beautiful.

There is always a lineup of people wanting to get the photo taken on “the log” which sits on the bank of the second lake.
